IN this seminar Alberto Gabrielle will present the findings in his new book: THE ECONOMY OF CUBA AFTER THE VI PARTY CONGRESS (Nova Publishers, 2012, Alberto Gabriele, UNCTAD, (ed.). In this volume Alberto and other economists analyse the changes being implemented in the Cuban economy and assess the possibilities for creating a new form of Market Socialism.

Alberto GABRIELE is Economic Affairs Officer in the Geneva-based United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He has previously worked with the UN and other organizations, NGOs and consulting companies in Italy, Mexico, New York, Nicaragua, Cuba, Vietnam and Guinea, and has carried out missions in many other developing countries. He has published several articles and book chapters on various topics, mostly in the domain of development economics. His main scientific and – broadly speaking – political research interest is constituted by the theoretical and practical challenges faced by socialist-oriented socioeconomic systems.
