About us
The International Institute for the Study of Cuba (IISC) is an initiative by a group of academics, specialists and consultants that was founded in 2006 with the initial objective of providing an in-depth and focused appraisal of the Cuban “Social Experience”.
It is our view that a holistic study of Cuba is essential and can only be undertaken within an academic centre beyond the confines of the US-Cuba divide and with the rigour of academic enquiry.
The Institute was established at London Metropolitan University in 2007 and has been located at the University of Buckingham since 2021.
One of its main purposes is to promote and help to finance the editorial content of The International Journal of Cuban Studies, a quarterly academic journal, published by Pluto Journals.
