Following two successful tours in 2018 and 2019, the Department of Politics at the University of Buckingham is once again offering this study visit to Cuba led by Dr Stephen Wilkinson, who lectures on Latin American and Cuban Politics. Steve is Editor of the International Journal of Cuban Studies and the Director of International Institute for the Study of Cuba. Steve has been visiting Cuba since 1987, holds a PHD in Cuban Literature and has led more than twenty study tours to the island.
The flights and itinerary are organised by the ATOL/ABTA protected Cuba Specialist Travel company LoveCuba.
The tour will deepen participants’ understanding of history, politics, economics and international relations as well as expand their knowledge of Cuba, its unique character and history. It includes 4 nights staying in casas particulares (B&Bs in Cuban family homes). There will also be time to relax, explore Havana and enjoy a couple of days at the beach!
We will be flying economy with Virgin Atlantic departing from Heathrow on Friday 10th September and returning overnight on Sunday 19th arriving in Heathrow on Monday 20th. The group will stay at the famous Habana Libre Hotel in Havana.
The price £1,729 includes the visa, flight, nine nights (2 in all inclusive the rest B&B) in hotels and casas, English speaking tourist guide, transfers, visits, and stated lunches, based on a shared double room. A single supplement of £250 applies to those who do not wish to share a room.
The tour is for students, alumni, staff. But relatives, friends and interested others are welcome to join as well.
